Bad weather programme on holiday in Salzkammergut
When the sun doesn't shine:
It is not only nature that has been particularly kind to Mondsee and its surroundings. There are also many wonderful excursion destinations and cultural highlights. So even if the weather is bad, you have a wide range of options for entertaining and relaxing holidays.
Salzburg is worth the visit even when it's raining
This cultural city offers a great range of indoor highlights, from shopping and cafes in the old town to excellent museums and galleries. Visit the Museum der Moderne (museum of modern art), Hohensalzburg Castle, Haus der Natur (house of nature) or an exciting guided tour of the festival theatres (Festspielhäuser) and much more.
Discover the cultural Salzkammergut
It became wealthy due to the salt mines and was very popular as a summer resort for the Viennese upper class: the Salzkammergut and its diverse history are revived at various museums and at different places. Get to know the composers and writers that were drawn to this town or visit the emperor's mansion.
Salt Worlds in Hallstatt, Hallein and Altaussee
Deep in the mountains, salt was and still is mined. The best way to find out how exciting the labyrinth of tunnels, salt lakes, slides and knowledge stations is is to take a guided tour. There are no less than 3 show mines within less than an hour's drive: Hallstatt, Altaussee and Hallein. Since you are in caves most of the time, it is a perfect destination for an excursion in bad weather.
We will also be happy to provide you with additional tips for your holiday on rainy days in the Salzkammergut directly at the Aktivhotel Seehof in person.
